Website launch: Ontario Occupational Disease Statistics

With funding from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board’s 2019 Grants Program, the Occupational Cancer Research Centre has partnered with the Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety to develop an interactive website to synthesize and communicate results from the Occupational Disease Surveillance System (ODSS) and other data sources to the broader health and safety system. We are excited to announce the launch of the site, occdiseasestats.ca.

The website will serve as a platform to disseminate information, increase occupational disease awareness, and share actionable data across Ontario’s occupational health and safety system. The website provides targeted information (including statistical) in an informative, accessible, and engaging way, which can be used to make Ontario workplaces healthier and safer.  

Information is available in a variety of formats in both English and French. Users can currently learn about the ODSS and view content by sector including construction, healthcare, mining, transportation, and metal manufacturing. Additional sectors will be added in the coming months (stay tuned!) and exposure-focused content will be added in 2021. The ODSS is supported by funding from Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development and Ministry of Health. The ODSS was developed through grants from the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and the Public Health Agency of Canada.
