On Monday, April 28, 2014, the National Day of Mourning commemorated workers who have been killed, injured, or fallen sick as a result of their work. The National Day of Mourning is an annual event, and was officially recognized by the federal government in 1991. It serves as a day to remember lives lost, and to emphasize the importance of improving health and safety in the workplace to prevent future deaths, injuries and diseases.
Events are being held across Ontario. For a list of events, visit the Workers Health and Safety Centre website.
